Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) called the health care bill that is now headed for cloture “a legislative train wreck of historic proportions.” Most of the country agrees with him. Nonetheless, the Senate is on its way to imposing its will on the American people just for the sake of saying that they accomplished something. This is a truly sad moment in American history.

The Senate Democrats have cajoled, bribed and threatened their way to a 60 vote super-majority. Each of the Democratic Senators that had objected to the bill have been “convinced” to vote for cloture. This puts the bill one step closer to passage. The next step is to reconcile the bill with the House version.

Senator Ben Nelson (D-NE) was the last hold out against the bill. He had expressed concerns about federal funds being used for abortions. He wanted specific language in the bill to prevent public moneys from being used for this purpose. According to reports today, he got some language inserted into the bill, but it is not clear what it is or how much he compromised his conscience. There are also rumors that he was given monetary incentives for his state. How pathetic is that?

It is not too late. Call your Senators and Congressmen and tell them how you want them to vote. Remind them that this is the United States of America—not the Socialist States of America. Remind them that your vote and opinion matters.

The defeat of Rockefeller’s “Community Choice Health Plan” is the first setback to President Obama’s desire to impose nationalized health care on the American public.

Let’s hope that this is the first in many setbacks and that this grandiose Democratic agenda goes away–like it did under former President Clinton’s term.

This occurs two weeks after his sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver died. It is bad enough to lose one person in your family; losing two in such close proximity brings unimaginable sorrow. My condolences go out to his family and close friends.

Senator Kennedy was an unquestionably successful senator who promoted many liberal causes wholeheartedly. His influence was felt nationwide and his opinions on presidential candidates often made the difference between broad support and marginalization of candidates.

Although I disagreed with Senator Kennedy on almost all issues, I can respect his 46 years of service in the Senate.

The following speech from last years Democratic convention in Denver was one of his last major speeches.

Senator Kennedy supported candidate Obama from the start and is one of the reasons that Obama prevailed over Hillary Clinton for the nomination for president.

Again, I wish the family my condolences in this trying moment.

The Senate Democratic majority (it pains me to even write about it) stands at 55 Democrats plus two independents, who caucus with Democrats, for a total of 57 in the Senate. There are still three states in which the election is too close to call; these are Alaska, Georgia and Minnesota. These states are must-win for the Republicans, or the Democrats will have a filibuster-proof majority of 60. This would enable Obama to do as he pleases with social programs, the environment, economic programs and the appointment of judges.

Now that Bush has turned socialist on us, and is giving away tax payer dollars at an unbelievable pace, the last thing we need is for Obama to take over and give away even more of our cash. We need Republican wins in these three states. Alaska will be decided by absentee ballots. It is reassuring to note that Republican Stevens is in the lead. However, it is not reassuring that he has been convicted on seven felony counts of corruption. Perhaps that Senate seat could be won and then reappointed by Governor Sarah Palin. I would not mind her appointing herself to the position, if it is allowed.

Georgia is having a run-off election on December 2. I’m hoping for an early Christmas present there with a Republican victory. It is between Democrat Jim Martin and Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss. You can donate money to the National Republican Trust to help get Chambliss reelected.

The Minnesota race between Al Franken and Republican Senator Norm Coleman is also too close to call. Coleman is leading by 206 votes out of close to 3 million votes that were cast. There will be a recount and the results will not be known until December. Coleman’s victory would be another wonderful Christmas present.

I call on Republicans in these three states to help in any way possible to get these three Republican Senators reelected. You can donate to the Free and Strong America PAC founded by Mitt Romney. You can challenge counts, vote and/or donate money, but please do something to help us keep Obama from having a filibuster-proof majority.

Now that the Fox News has exposed how partisan Acorn really is and how it is trying to steal the election using voter fraud, it is time for us to do something about it. It is not enough to watch television and get dismayed at the filing of fake voter registration forms and the theft of tax dollars while promoting one candidate. One reader wrote me asking that I post a few links to help people do something about it.

One link takes you to a site that shows you all that Acorn is doing wrong and the other two are links to the House of Representatives and the Senate so that you can ask your representatives in Congress and Senators to do something about it.

Here they are:

http://www.rottenacorn.com/
https://forms.house.gov/wyr/welcome.shtml

Acorn gets $25 million a year of taxpayer funds. Is this fair?

Senator John McCain has shown leadership throughout his entire life. He did so in service to the country in Vietnam. He has done so in Congress and he continues to do so during this campaign. Unlike Senator Obama, he stepped forward at great risk to his campaign and temporarily canceled it to go to Washington and help with the fiscal mess that Democrats have created.

The current fiscal crisis was precipitated by Democrats who were taking campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Three of the top recipients of contributions in the last ten years were Senator Dodd, Senator Barney Frank and Senator Barack Obama. Senator Obama makes this list in spite of his being in the Senate for only three of the ten years.

For years, Senator McCain has been trying to tell fellow Senators and the American public that the system was in need of reform. In January 26, 2005, he sponsored a bill called, “Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005.” In it, he called for the reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. There were three other co-sponsors to the bill and they were all Republicans.

Senator Charles Hagel (R, NE)
Senator Elizabeth Dole (R, NC)
Senator John Sununu (R, NH)

This bill was shot down by the Senate.

America needs a leader who can tell us the truth, who acts on it, and most importantly who cares about the country–not an ambitious and expeditious upstart who thinks he has the answers.

Senator Obama’s campaign is to run against another George Bush term. Senator McCain is not President Bush. It just shows that Obama has nothing to offer except politics as usual. The only change is that he is by far the slickest Democrat on the national scene. Do not be fooled. Vote for real leadership.
