Green Czar Van Jones resigned this weekend with no comment from his supporter and appointer, President Obama. Glen Beck of Fox News made an issue of Van Jones’ background. Beck discovered video of Van Jones admitting he was a Communist. He also found other damning facts about Van Jones on the Internet and publicized these on his show. Van Jones, for example, was involved in Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement in the 1990s.

Besides being an admitted Communist, Van Jones was also a co-founder of Color of Change—a radical organization. This is the same left-wing group that went after Glen Beck’s show by mounting a campaign asking advertisers to back out of the show. I guess Beck wins this battle by a knockout.

Here is video of one of Beck’s shows about Van Jones:

Another fascinating aspect of the Van Jones story is that prior to the actual resignation, it received no coverage in newspapers like the New York Times. I believe that this is the reason that newspapers are becoming obsolete. What happened to an independent press? Why is it that broadcast media is showing more integrity than newspapers? When I was a young man, I was taught that newspapers were more independent and reliable than broadcast media because they were not licensed by the FCC. This may have been true at some point in time, but the newspapers are now just panderers to the liberal world view.

The New York Times is so pathetic that it described the resignation as “a victory for Republicans and the Obama administration’s conservative critics” in the first sentence of its first Van Jones story on September 6th. I believe it is a victory “for government of the people, by the people, for the people.” Van Jones was appointed to his position and was not vetted by Congress or by any other government agency. To its credit, the New York Times did describe Van Jones past associations and the fact that Glen Beck led the charge against him. It is too bad, that it was not the New York Times that pursued Van Jones history and revealed it as unacceptable. That is what an independent press should be doing. You can read the pathetic article here.

So in this case, Beck scores one and Obama, the New York Times and Color of Change lose one. If you are Obama and are counting votes perhaps many more than one.

President-elect Obama benefitted from a fawning press during the presidential campaign. One would think that now that they achieved their goal and have a liberal Democrat heading for the White House, they would start demonstrating some “journalistic professionalism.” Alas, this is not the case.

The Star Ledger, a large New Jersey newspaper, recently published fluff pieces on Obama’s physique. They wrote about how his six-pack abs were visible during his vacation in Hawaii. While reading this garbage, I suddenly had the urge to check the masthead of the paper; I needed to see if I had mistakenly picked up The Inquirer or Star. I even checked the next page to see if there was any news on Jennifer Lopez’s twins burping, or some similar story.

On December 25th, The Star Ledger ran a story on page 3 with the following headline, “Despite a cool image, is Obama really a nerd?” The article discusses such lofty national issues as Obama’s use of a Blackberry phone, his collecting comic books as a child, and his greeting the actor who played Spock on Star Trek (Leonard Nimoy), with a Vulcan greeting. Fabulous!

Is it any wonder that newspapers are going out of business? The Star Ledger is close to closing. Who will miss it with this type of ridiculous writing?

Reporters from the Washington Times, the New York Post and the Dallas Morning News were told last night that there was not enough space on Senator Obama’s plane for them. The exclusion comes just after each of these papers endorsed Senator John McCain on their editorial pages.

First, the Obama campaign blocks a television station from Florida for asking Senator Biden tough questions, and now the campaign removes reporters from major newspapers, printed in major cities, just because the papers endorsed his opponent. I guess this tells us how Obama may rule if he wins the election. If you disagree with him or his policies you get no access. It makes me feel like we are in a communist state or at least a dictatorship. (It also makes me afraid to publish this site if he wins.)

Show Obama how indignant you are with these developments and vote for McCain-Palin on November 4th.
