Early in his first term, President Bill Clinton created a commission headed by Hillary Clinton to overhaul health care in the United States. He met fierce opposition. Since he was a wise and crafty politician, he backed off and pursued other matters. As a result, he was reelected to a second term and is remembered fondly by Democrats and even some Republicans. (At the time, I disliked Bill Clinton, but he has grown on me. He has become very respectable as a senior statesman. His image is enhanced, by the contrast between him and the ridiculous Jimmy Carter.)

If you compare Bill Clinton to President Barack Hussein Obama, you realize that you are dealing with a less crafty politician. Obama is more of an ideologue than Bill Clinton ever was. He is also stubborn and portrays an image of smug superiority that I find appalling. I believe that Obama genuinely thinks that his ideas and plans are better than anyone else’s and that they should be pursued and implemented regardless of what others think or feel about it. To me, that sounds like a classic dictator and not a United States President. (Now you know why I included his middle name in the first sentence.)

I am hoping that moderate Democrats in the House and Senate realize that the populace does not want bigger government. It does not want a government that runs health care and it absolutely does not want another trillion dollars of deficit spending. I hope that there is a lesson learned from the elections in Virginia and New Jersey where Republicans trounced Democrats.

Americans are angry and are demonstrating that anger. Just look at this video of the march on Washington, D.C.:

If Democrats and particularly Obama, Pelosi and Reid do not back off, in 2010 they will face the most devastating elections that the Democratic party has ever seen. Then in 2012, Obama will also lose his job. That is almost guaranteed.

Once in a while, it is important to add a little humor to serious subjects. This email came into my inbox and I found it hilarious, but also unfortunately true.

Al Gore, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama go to heaven, God addresses Al first.

”Al, what do you believe in?”

Al replies: "Well, I believe that I won that election, but that it was your will that I did not serve. And I’ve come to understand that now.”

God thinks for a second and says: "Very good. Come and sit at my left.”

God then addresses Bill. "Bill, what do you believe in?”

Bill replies: "I believe in forgiveness. I’ve sinned, but I’ve never held a grudge against my fellow man, and I hope no grudges are held against me.”

God thinks for a second and says: "You are forgiven, my son. Come and sit at my right.”

Then God addresses Barack. "Barack, what do you believe in?”

He replies: "I believe you’re in my chair.”

All the disgruntled Senator Hillary Clinton supporters, who started the Party Unity My Ass (PUMA) movement, must be thrilled to see that there will be an Obama-Hillary team after all. Hillary now gets a shot at meddling with our foreign affairs like she tried with healthcare many years ago. Isn’t that special.

If her nomination gets approved, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be following in the shadow of some very respectable Secretary of States. We’ll see if she succeeds or is fired by President-elect Obama as payment for not gracefully conceding during the Democratic primaries. (That three AM commercial may cost her yet.) Unfortunately for her, she will not have her senate seat as a fallback position, since she must now relinquish that post.

Who knows, maybe former President Bill Clinton will want to join in this fun and take her senate seat from New York. That would put him back into the political game–something he likes second only to women.

President Bill Clinton made the phrase, “It’s the economy, stupid,” famous during his 1992 campaign for the White House. It looks like the phrase is as relevant today as it was then. People are concerned about bottom line issues like having enough money to pay for groceries, gas, the mortgage and their children’s education. This is understandable and truly the most important issue for most people in the country.

What is difficult to understand is why some potential voters put on their blinders and believe that an inexperienced radical who has only been in the Senate for a few years can do a good job with the economy. What has he proposed that is so relevant to the bottom line? He has proposed nothing meaningful and can deliver nothing special.

Potential voters seem to think that Senator McCain had something to do with the current financial malaise. It could not be further from the truth. Perform your own research and be informed. Do Internet searches on McCain and regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. You will see that McCain sponsored bills to regulate these two entities before they became a problem.

Senator Obama hardly has any experience in government. He has no experience as an executive. He has not run a company. He has not been a governor or even a mayor. Senator Obama has not forged relationships with members of congress from both parties. Senator McCain, on the other hand, has over 25 years of experience. He has relationships with other members of congress and even has the support of Senator Lieberman, a former Connecticut Democrat turned Independent.

It is the economy, but please don’t be stupid. Think it through and decide based on who will actually affect your bottom line. This is not a time for blind faith–especially not in politicians.
