Hi, I’m Robert Alonso. I started Democrats SUCK! many years ago as a protest against Janet Reno’s abduction of Elian Gonzalez in Florida on April 22, 2000. I believed then, as I do now, that storming the family’s house with a paramilitary SWAT team constituted excessive force and represented both a complete breakdown of law and order and respect for civil liberties in this country. (You can see a Pulitzer-prize winning photo of the event here.)
Attorney General Janet Reno and President Bill Clinton could have handled the issue much better and without the need for any force. Regardless of how you feel about Elian and where he belonged, if the decision was made that he belonged in Cuba with his estranged father, then Reno should have sent one armed Marshall to knock on the door and demand that Elian be turned over. I am sure that the family would have complied. That is what a nation of laws is all about. Storming the house was just the kind of crazy thing that Janet Reno did on a regular basis. (The ironic thing is that the Bush administration gets all the credit for behaving like a bunch of cowboys. I think the real cowgirl worked for Bill Clinton.)
The site has been expanded and redesigned a few times. It has also been left for dead for long periods of time. It is not easy keeping several blogs up-to-date—especially when you have a full time job to do. With this latest look and format, I am trying to post information and opinions regularly.
I welcome your opinions and comments. However, to eliminate junk postings and ads, they will need to be approved before they appear. You can disagree (or agree) wholeheartedly, but without being offensive. I look forward to building this site with your help.

Actually, you have it all wrong, it’s Republicans that suck. With idiots like Sarah Palin and Mick Huckabee in your party, you look like nothing but uneducated bible thumping clowns.
