How Rich! Disagree. You are a Racist!
Frank Rich, a op-ed columnist for the New York Times wrote a piece recently that claims that the “the rage is not about health care.” He believes that the tea party movement, and those opposed to the health care bill that was signed into law by Obama, are racists who are afraid that their white America has been taken over by blacks, women and gays. This is rich (pun intended) from a white person. Here is a quote from his essay:
If Obama’s first legislative priority had been immigration or financial reform or climate change, we would have seen the same trajectory. The conjunction of a black president and a female speaker of the House — topped off by a wise Latina on the Supreme Court and a powerful gay Congressional committee chairman — would sow fears of disenfranchisement among a dwindling and threatened minority in the country no matter what policies were in play.
I find it disturbing that every time someone disagrees with a liberal, then that person has to be a racist or stupid, and often both. Please note Rich’s wording, “a wise Latina on the Supreme Court.” I don’t think she is all that wise. I think she has manipulated the system to move ahead by virtue of her Hispanic heritage.
What I found most disturbing about the health care legislation was the lack of transparency in the entire process. To this day, most people do not know what is in the bill or how it is going to affect most Americans. If Obama wanted to be a “post-partisan” president, then it was incumbent on him to be inclusive and create a law that would be beneficial to all Americans and that included ideas from conservatives and liberals. If that had been the case, then there would be no opposition to the health care law. Obama’s skin color does not mean squat to me and I think that it does not to a majority of people. It is his arrogance that I find disturbing.
I hope to see a day when liberals do not fall back on the specious claim of racism whenever they are challenged. Maybe then we can have racial peace in this country.
Full disclosure: I am a naturalized immigrant who was born in Cuba. I, therefore, do not belong to any of the groups mentioned—even the wise Latina’s group since I do not consider myself wise or a Latina. Here is another disclosure: I consider myself an American first, as we all should if we are enjoying the bounty and rights of this country.

Democrats were once consudered the party for the common man—now they are the party that wants to rule over those who made their way by hard work and furthering their education ( and not necessarily by some rich dude paying the way) as all democrats want to believe…The mentallity of the dem party today is take from those who have ( because they worked for it) and give it to those who quit school and lay around believing that the haves should hand it on over to the have-nots…This party definately sucks!!!!!!!!
